Hi This is my first post! Anyway got a 2006 golf tdi se and the central locking system is buggered up. The default setting is you press the unlock button on the key fob, and all the doors unlock and then lock again when car is driven off. Somewhere along the line it has been changed to the unlock button just opens the drivers door - so I have to open passenger doors/ boot from inside and it won't lock automatically when driven off. Does anyone know how to put back to the normal setting. If it makes any difference the car has the "midline" trip computer fitted. Thanks in advance.

this stuff can all be changed but it needs to be customised on a scanner - find yourself an independant garage with the right kit and they'll do it for you

good luck

Yeah, Nissans do that, if you press the unlock button again, it might work then.

No, that has nothing to do with it e.g, you cant change it yourself.

thats right it's in the configuration of the central locking controller - can be changed but it has to have the right kit plugged in to it

As for unlocking all doors just press your button twice. to change all the settings you'll have to take it to your dealer and theyll change the coding in central locking. just take it to vw and tell them its lost its setting and you want it changing back under warranty.

they may do it for free but I doubt it - these are customer requested customisations so would be chargable if they need changing - however if they sold you the car that puts a different slant on it and they may do it for free

why do you want to change the 5mph locking? people pay me good money to switch this on usually not off - women particularly like it as it automatically locks them in the car safely

Ok will take back to dealer as it was bought from them a couple of weeks ago. I want to turn auto lock @ 5mph ON. The car is 6months old and was previousley owned by a vw employee so it looks like they chanegd the setting and swithced it off which I dont want.

Had another look this morning and still not working right - even if I press unlock buton twice. Looks like will need a trip back to dealer. The trip computer is meant to have an option to change this like I thought, but it only shows up on cars fitted with the sat nav according to service manual so no good to me.
