W8 Passat

Anyone got any comments or ownership issues on the W8 Passat. Have seen a 2002 reg Auto estate model with less than 50K on the clock for just over £8,000 and thinking of going for it. Now, I would never have paid in the region of 35K new for this car (with extras) but the depreciation seems to have been so horific that it has become a bit of a bargain.

I know the fuel economy will be poor but I dont do as many miles as I did. Also the performance isn't as great as 275BHP makes you think it would be, but it is more a relaxed cruiser than sports orientated but I dont have an issue with that. But I do need a good tow car, that will fit loads of gear or a big dog in the back and it seems to fit the bill.
