I am new to the forum and new to owning a V5, the car has only done 25k miles and runs and performs brilliantly,
it ticks over aroung the 650 rpm mark which is correct however the tickover is lumpy transmitting vibration through to the driver etc.
I took it into a main VW dealer and after a day of checks and throttle housing cleaning it was slightly better but still annoying ! Do i believe VW when they tell me that all V5s do this ?! the engine is so smooth when driving but i am finding it hard to believe this is the way VW invented this engine ?, i may be wrong ? please help.

Could be right. Mine is fine driving, but idling sounds worse than an old London cab.

2.0 that is with 15k miles.

Have you or anyone you know got access to VAG COM? You can log you MAF (air meter) and see if it's giving the ECU false readings. They are notoriously crap parts, and fail all the time. it could be something else, but the MAF is the shittest component on these cars (A3's included!) check out www.uk-mkivs.net for some more info.
