A4 alarm not flashing interior lights staying on

Driving along and all of a sudden the hazards switched on. Wierd. Parked it that night and noticed that the interior light was on, blipped the alarm again and also saw that the lights don't flash when the alarm in operated. 2 days later had a flat battery, but that might be unrelated as it was pretty cold and this is the original -perhaps the interior had been left on again? Checked fuses etc and then my fuel gauge stopped reading. Started this morning and everything worked fine..... then the interior light came on again and the alarm doesn't flash any more.

Has anyone come across something like this?
