Where should the CD changer be on a 1999 Passat?

In the boot, behind a panel which folds down between the left side rear wheel arch and the light cluster. You have to turn a couple of clips to release the panel.

When I had a 99 Passat mine was screwed to the underside of the rear parcel shelf in the boot.

On a similar note, did all A3's come with the wiring for an auto-changer?

Mine has the Bose base box on the left hand side of the boot and there is a gap for the auto-changer but I had heard that even if one wasn’t fitted from the factory, the loom was there anyway.

Ive done a few new shape passats and when doing post checks allways say to them did you know this was here and pull the changer down from above the glove box , its well hidden !
