Golf to a Passat

Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie here on the VW board, please bear with me. I'm thinking about changing my MK3 Golf for a 2003 Passat diesel estate (130bhp Sport) has anyone got any experience with these cars, what are they like to live with, any faults I should be looking for when making a purchase. I know that the Passat will be a different drive to the Golf, but I need more space; one daughter already and two more on the way
