Car goes straight, but steering wheel is wonky. simplest, cheapest solution to my eyes is to remove and refit wheel at correct angle. Cant see how it removes though. Any knowledgable people out there on the subject? Reluctant to beat it to death as theres a horn push in there somewhere

Hi, pull off the horn cover, and then undo the bolt in the middle, pull the wheel of the splines and adjust to suit!
Put back together and the jobs a goodun'
Cheers

Mat's top safety tip of the day.

Keep the nut on the column by a couple of threads when you pull the wheel from the splines. This will prevent you having a perminant steering wheel shaped dent in your face for the rest of your life!

But why is it wonky? It didn't start like that. I'd check the wheel alignment and condition of suspension first.

IIRC tracking is adjusted on one side only so will push wheel off centre if fiddled with. OK if you have replaced something, but not OK if it used to be straight and now it isn't.

Cheers for the tip, will try it out.

As for why its wonky... I dont know. No unusual tyre wear, no wandering off in random directions, nothing at all unusual in how it drives.

As its a 200 quid car (albeit quite a good one for the money), cant really see myself shelling out to check if there is some minor fault (i assume it would be minor for all the above to be fine). I suspect previous owner mucking about, considering he had done such wonderous repairs as 'ah, the radio fuse has blown, lets pull out the headlight fuse and use that instead'
