Hi All,
I have a problem, got into my car yesterday morning, put key in ignition turned, all warning lights come on and go off as normal, try to start the car and nothing happens.....
Arrive home try car, starts first time, take it down to my local Vw garage and the guys plugged it in, did a full diagnostic test and found nothing.

This morning the same happened, but the car started on the fourth turn of the key. And the car also started first time on the return journey from work this afternoon.

Both mornings have been super damp with a mild frost, but the car has never missed a beat in 2 years and this has never been a problem before.

Can anyone help me..............

Sounds like immobiliser! Check the fuse box, relays, and ECU connections are all dry and clean just for peace of mind. Unless you are particularly knowledgeable and tooled up, this looks like a garage job.

Is the car still under warrenty? Ever been paranoid and thought that these gremlins are programmed into the cars at the factory to play up just after the warrenty ended?

I had a DVD player that failed about a week after the 12 month guarentee ran out. Coincidence?

Hi Leon,

Hope the R32 is behaving itself properly once again! I've got a full workshop manual for the Golf R32 if that would help... just let me know. If in doubt threaten it with a can of WD40 - that generally does the trick

My R32 is also playing silly b*****s... the near side xenon doesn't come on 100% of the time - unless of course it is being checked by the local dealer then it behaves immaculately. Typical!

When selling my previous S3, the key stopped working and the oil warning lamp came on the day I was driving down south to sell it - now that's impressive programming for you!

All the best!
