Just wondered how you RS4 owners are getting on with the cars and the costs involved in running them. I apprecitate MPG is down to the driver but what about servicing costs? I am lead to believe that the RS6 was expensive to service due to the cambelts needing changing frequently at over £1000 a time! Is this the case with the RS4? I have been considering a 997 for some time and I just don't know if I want another Porsche. I accept the cars are quite different but the RS4 is supposed to be great. What are your experience's, please?
PS: I talking about the new RS4 - is it B7type?

cambelt is every 60K miles and yes its over a grand on the RS6 ...suspect its similar on the RS4 ....oil change services on teh V8 are about £350 at a dealer then every 40K miles plugs too (8 of em of course at £15 a pop) ...so yes running a 4.2V8 isnt cheap if you do a lot of miles - say 20K+ a year ...otherwise its not too bad....discs n pads at a dealer are scary - like £1K for the fronts so buy them from Vag parts etc at 1/2 the cost and get them fitted somewhere for an hours labour.

You have cam chains on the new B7 RS4 so no service time on those. If the S4 V8 is anything to go by you will have to have the chain tensioners relaced in due course.

Standard B7 RS4 discs are £280 ea plus pads at £213 a set.You can get replacment discs for £475 a set inc vat from numerous sellers on e-bay.Only when you have the ceramic disc you may need to worry as they are £3324 ea.

The cam belt service on the old B5 RS4 is at 40k
