AudiA4 2.0 TDI

I was thinking of changing my A4 TDI 130 for a new 2.0 TDI early next year, but I have been hearing reports of very high initial oil consumption on these engines, eg 3 litres in 5000 miles.
Can anyone shed any light on this ?

No, but why not just buy one that has been run in by someone else then? After all, they won't give decent fuel economy at first anyway.

My Golf with this engine used 2 litres in it's first 12,000 miles. I really like the engine for motorway journeys and find it does nearly 50 mpg on average.
