bouncy coilovers

i have just fitted a set of second hand h&r coilovers (fixed damping) to my a4 but the back of the car is now bouncy as hell!
they are 6 years old but i know for a fact they have only had a few months use in that time, they have just been laying in they're box gathering dust for most of they're life.
the front ones are fine it's just the back, they just feel to me like the shocks are fu*ked.
any one out there had similar probs?
