How much work did Audi do during the recall of the early TTs to fit the spoiler? I read somewhere that the suspension was altered as well - is this true?

And did Audi recall every TT? Is it possible I can find an original non-recalled version somewhere?

Yes, Audi softened the suspension and added the rear spoiler following 5 high speed deaths not long after the launch of the car.

There are a few cars around without the spoiler (not sure about the suspension work). If you're after a non-spoilered car your best bet would be to buy one with the spoiler and have it removed and the body work filled in and repainted. That would give you a much much wider choice of cars to purchase from, and I don't imagine the work to have the spoiler removed would cost much.
