new ibiza 1.4 sport

daughters just bought brand new seat ibiza 1.4 sport and i noticed that the first service is at 10.000 miles , surley this cant be right is it , i would have thought that a first service at 1000 miles would have been better even if its just an oil change to get rid of metal particles in engine as there are always run in materials yes , or am i living in the past and engines arn't like that anymore. regards ian
