My mk2 had done 167k and it drove faultlessly except that the gearbox was almost on its last legs. Sold it for £500 but it had a few cosmetic issues.

I wouldn't pay 2k for one but if you like them that much...

I'd be more concerned about why the driver's door doesn't line up with the rest of that side of the car.

If you want one that's got a fantastic engine, all bits working but could do with some cosmetics (it's tidy but white so shows any rust or imperfections) then I'm consdiering selling mine shortly.

They're great cars, had this one a year - Put a new electric window in for the drivers side, new heater fan and some water hoses changed

123,000 91J - I'll chuck it on the classfieds soon...

They all do that, sir! (no, really - it's a MK2 thing).

If you've got 2k to spend you can have mine. Bodywork isn't as good as that but it's a better colour and has a new engine, rebuilt box, clutch, Recaros blah blah blah...

I agree with Alex, I have had a mk2 Jetta and a mk2 Golf, both suffered with the drivers doors 'drooping' - I actaully have a similar problem on my current Audi Coupe. I think it is down to the weight of the doors, and the frequency with which the drivers door is used as opposed to the other doors. A decent bodyshop should be able to sort this cheaply if it concerns you that much.

The Golf looks good otherwise, I dont think he will struggle to sell it for around £1500 - it really is a sellers market when it comes to mint Mk2's - there simply are not many good ones left.

Best of luck with the auction.

I was after a 2.8 coupe for a long time but none of them popped up that were fully loaded. As for the doors, I cant vouch for the GTi but the coupes have heavy doors. My black one dropped but was adjusted but I dont think the door has dropped at all on the S2, lucky I guess.
