A4 avant boot trim removal
Discussion
Having just changed my rear wiper motor it's still fresh so here goes:
1). Undo the screw in the middle. It's tucked away in the little plastic handle you use to close the tailgate.
2). Start at the bottom edge. There are 2 large black clips each side of the locking mechanism, one close to the catch and one in the corner. Once you start to pry up the trim you will see them. They are about 2 inches long. Once you can see them it's fairly easy to ping them out with a screw driver.
3). Once all four are out you can start to pull the trim away but remember there are a further 2 large clips located up near the window towards the outside. You should be able to see these once the trim is far enough away from the bottom. Mine popped as I was pulling the trim away but a screw driver to pry them off would be better. At least you will know they are there.
4). The trim panel is then almost clear except where it joins the plastic trim around the window. This is very loosely joined and not clipped at all. However, be careful how you take the pieces apart as the plastic is quite brittle and you can break little bits off.
That's it. Trim is off and of course, in good old Haynes manual parlance "refit is the reverse of the procedure"
Good luck.
