Just after a bit of advice - my commuter pootle wagen a distinctly unexciting '98 1.4 8v Polo has been 100% reliable and fault free until today...
1st problem - moved it off the drive this morning all of 10 yards and 10 seconds running - when I came back to it tonight engine turned over perfectly but wouldn't fire - oh no methinks coil has given up the ghost - but no on testing a nice fat spark was present, went over everything and all was fine - then I remembered my GTV - that did the same thing and being decidedly more complex beastie had the AA out - 30 seconds of constant starter motor and that spluttered into life - tried it on Polo - et voila it runs - and seems very happy now????
More serious is whilst the drive was clear noted some fluid leaks - on investgating this appears to be auto tranny fluid - whipped off the shield to check the tranny sump - wet but no apparent damage wiped this down reassembled ran around the block a few times vigourously and no further leaks evident - just a little worried by this as unlike my auto vento there's no transmission dipstick and the fluid fill is capped off - anyone else had this or care to offer an opinion (other than get a better car!)????? I plan to get it to garage on Monday to be checked over but should I get it towed?

Point 1: flooded. Try it on a big engine, won't restart for toffee!

Point 2: Volkswagens leak. They just do.

I wouldn't worry too much mate.
