TT morphs into UR quattro
Discussion
Just read in this weeks Autocar, Audi are going to bring out an RS version of the TT or it could be called the TTS.
With a 2.5 in line..... yes I did say in line! 5 pot motor with twin sequensial turbo's(350 BHP) quattro drivetrain with manual or DSG gearbox.
Could this be the spiritual successor to the UR quattro ? The last 5 cyinder Audi produced was the RS2 and that was ten years ago.
I think it's time Audi went rallying again.
Ian.....

No way in hells chance any TT could ever replace the Ur quattro in my mind.
For one thing UR means "original" if im not mistaken, plus the TT, i mean, look at it! Its about as desirable as an undesirable thing.
Why waste a 5 cylinder in one of those?
Just cos it was born in a stable it dosent make it a horse.

Interesting that you choose to illustrate your point using a car that didn't start out life as an ur.

Are you SURE it is a 5 pot? I understand differently, but could be mistaken,,,just suprised as they don't appear to use that engine elsewhere...surely they can't be borrowing the Volvo/Ford unit????
As far as I know it will be half the V10 from the S6/Gallardo!

Good spot, but it doesn't detract from DF's point that one of the finest, leanest rally machines ever to grace the dirt anywhere in the world is not comparable to the (admittedly pretty, but 'only' pretty) TT. Oli.

Oooh, just seen this, feel compelled to make some enquiries.
I'll be back.
Knowing Audi they'll probably bring out a 1.9Tdi version with only 130 bhp which looks exactly the same, so that they can sell them to area manager flange sprocket salesmen who want the world to think they are driving gods.
This is a phenomenon I have recently spotted. To the idiot on the A34 the other day in a red A4 S line diesel - it is NOT an RS4 and you do NOT own the road.
I worry that the new popularity of Audi among a certain type of driver is taking place. Audi is in danger of being the new BMW.
A shame, cos there is no denying their tight shutlines and good quality. But I think i'd buy a Skoda.

Hate the fact they've sold out the S-line thing.
Bearing in mind the S-cars (REAL One's) are conservative enough to need the little badge for us petrolheads to know what to move over for in the mirror - the S-line just completely cheapens the whole deal.
They should have used blue instead of red to keep a decent differentiator.

Blue is (or was) the differentiator for the RS models, so if you see blue you know what to do. Most true S-heads remove all the badges anyway.
