Just wondering what 'real world' mpg anyone has been getting?

Did a 400 mile round trip this week, including 300 miles motorways and 100 miles around towns / B roads and got 55mpg!

I reckon you must all drive like girls!

Mine's now done 57k and I've averaged less than 45

Steady 90 cruise results in 43ish

There must be something wrong with yours if you're getting that low, unless you have a roofrack on or all the windows open. Ours will do mid 50s at 85-90mph, has averaged 56 over 80k miles.

my mpg is from the trip computer so may not be accurate

however, I struggle to believe that the car can average mid 50s at 90.....80 maybe but not 90

Mine's from the average MPG counter, not the live one.

I can believe the average 56...it's the mid 50's at 90 that I find less believable

I conciously watched my MPG for an hour on the M4 yesterday...never exceeded 90 (cruise control) and often down to 70 for periods and averaged 48mpg

Anyone ever done any real figures, calculated from distance travelled and amount of fuel you've pumped in??

I never believe the computers....

yes
Mine's currently averaging 44.7 - That's over 21500 miles - bearing in mind it's a Quattro I don't think that's too bad.

I've an A3 2.0TDI Quattro, 46mpg on the daily 40 mile A road commute if I'm gentle, however it got superchipped at the weekend, so this morning read 38mpg as I was playing a bit. Noticeable diff in all gears especially 4th for those who may be interested.

Tried an ultra economical run this morning following Chipping my car at the weekend,
Managed an Average of 54.8mpg over 35miles. (Really hard to resist the temptation of putting the foot down though)

Hi
Whats the A3 like now you have chipped it?
Is there a big difference and does it have any negative effect on the warranty persuming it's still under warranty

A3 is better, the Quattro needed the extra power (it was over 1½tonnes) most noticable difference is 4th gear which is great for overtaking, pulls ok in 5th & 6th also. I notice quite a bit of Turbo whistling whilst creeping around town in 1st though as it appears to kick in about 1200/1300rpm.

Re the warranty, car is 1½years old & one of the reasons I went with Superchips was their claim to stand by the remainder of the manufacturers warranty for up to a year.
