A4 1.8T project.

Hi I'm considering buying an post 2000/01 A4 1.8T with the intention of modifiying the engine to get more power (225/250 BHP). Which would be the best model to base this on with regards to getting the best stock brakes, suspension etc.

Most people prefer to go with the 99.5 as far as I am aware. Easier to start with a sport version I suppose, as it's a little perkier to start, with better suspension, etc.

Sport or Quattro sport will do nicely. Better specced with really nice interiors.

99.5 is the version of the B5 brought out halfway through 1999. It has, 9ovver here anyway), clear side indicators, the 'A4' name badge stuff on the middle of the boot, not the top, projector headlamps, updated rear light clusters, and some stuff like wheels on the sport version, and better brakes/suspension.
