I currently drive a 225TT, and am looking to swap it for the new shape, that was until i saw and drove a friends new RS4 cab..........and have fallen in love!!!

I'm not going to shell £60k on an RS4 but figured an S4 is the next best thing. How do they perform compared to M3 Cab? Is the auto worth looking at? do S4's sound as awesome as the RS4?

Any advise would be appreciated.

regards

ringmeister.

Think Road Angle A is well qualified to answer these questions IMO

The S4 cab is a great car - I used to have a B6 Tiptronic.

The B7 model (facelift) is a better car than the B6 - the handling and exhaust noise have been improved.

A Milltek exhaust will make the car sound a lot better - especially on the B6 model.

If you are doing lots of town driving then definately go with the tiptronic.

Are you really sure there is any difference between B6 and B7 handling for the S4 daz?

Well Chav over at TSN reckon's that there's a noticable difference to the handling. If the S4 now has the 60:40 split then there will be a difference.

If he's that bothered about handling, he should'nt be buying a cab anyway.

Only the RS4, S8, S6 and Q7 have the 40:60 as I understand it. However, I would expect that the main advantage an RS4 has over an S4 is DRC rather than 40:60.

True at silly speeds, however, I'm always impressed at how little the S4 Cab gives away to the S4 Avant.

I had a B7 saloon for a while and it was a great car (especially in the wet!) but it never felt that quick for the amount of fuel it used to drink. Very comfortable and it sounded fantastic. I was put off the cab for the stupidest of reasons - despite a better interior it doesn't get the same seats as the saloon and avant and having tried them I was dead set.

One thing I never quite understood was its gearing - 6th @80 was well over 3k revs - perhaps this was why 25mpg didn't tend to appear that often and the range was only about 200 miles.

mmm...well I would have to say that my S4 cab has seen The Ring quite a times, and handled it extremely well!! Especially for a cabriolet, plus we get to do it with the roof down. 1.38 round goodwood's not bad for an amateur in a cab, and I passed every integrale on the track...

:-)

CABRIOLET ALL THE WAY!

And, YES a fitted Milltek exhaust does make my car sound like CREAM would sound if it were noise... ;-)
