I just took my S4 for a good servicing with one of the main dealers as its still under warranty. Its advised they are serviced with this long life servicing ie every 20,000 or when the alarm strikes up on the onboard computer that you need a service.

I also had the brake fluid changed since its been cooked a few times...the bill was just under £600. What for?? mmm... A few filters, and some oil.... I was charged £195 for 8 litres of oil !!!??? I feel completely ripped off. Audi UK apparently have no control over what their dealers charge..

Has anyone else had any similar experiences with being ripped off like this?

Join the club guys, asked my local Audi stealer for a quote for a long life service and Haldex oil change on my S3 and they wanted 320 quid for the service and an extra 90 odd quid for the Haldex oil change!!

In the end got the service done, and the water pump, cambelt and tensioners repalaced for 600 quid all in at a local VAG specialist (Awesome GTI nr. Manchester)!

From what I could gather, Audi wanted 92 QUID AN HOUR LABOUR. Absolutely scandoulous if you ask me.

Other idea I had was taking my car to a VW / Seat / Skoda dealer for the next service, as the exact same engine is used in their models i.e Leon Cupra R, anyone know if they would be happy to service my Audi??

I think we should start a PH 'Avoid Audi dealer movement'!!

Cheers

Si.

Yes its true we can go to the other "approved workshops" now and still be under the warranty ok after the anti-monopoly laws on motor dealers... (I like ur stealers hee hee) I wonder if they charge just as hideously.

Oh, when I asked someone at Audi about the extortionate cost one of the replies was "well, you didn't buy an S4 for economical reasons did you". Ie "we think you got loadsa cash so we've seen you coming...".

Little do they know that I scrimp and save every penny and pound so I can keep my S4 just in PETROL !!!!!!!!!!!! GODDAMIT!!! ARGH!!!

I would expect the service to be £350 and the brake fluid to be <£100.

For which car? Depending on the model that actually sounds cheap.

Every time I drive past a big shiny car showroom, with its chrome, glass and marble floors, acres of space and leather sofas I think "who paid for that then?"

Audi may not have any direct control over their dealers rates, but they do award franchises and set standards for the "customer experience" (see above).

I paid £600 for a service on my S3 at a main dealer, wasn't that major either, needless to say I'm not going back now I've found a few independants I trust.

Just had 20K service on my r32 @ VW and paid £315 including Haldex oil change which was £85, so I suppose overall 25% cheaper, if you can compare the two!

I have several friends that have Audi's, one having an S3, they are all sickened by the poor aftermarket service and the inflated servicing costs and one particular occasion which included a dumbass mechanic, oil and a cream leather interior!

Cheers

Indeed, given that the S4 is chain driven.

They were both cheap prices.

I was quoted £110 + VAT for an A8 from a main dealer.
