Audi A3 2.0TDi - the Emmision control light is on
Discussion
hey guys - a long time lurker, first time poster...
just a small problem, my good lady has a 2003 2.0Tdi A3 and the Emmision control system light has come on ... Anybody know what this could mean, do I have to urgently sort it or I can I fix it myself somehow?
Any help much appreciated ,
JD.

It's probably a stuck flap in the intake manifold. A common thing with the 2.0 tdi apparently. Our Octavia had the same problem, makes it jerky on part throttle, a bit noisier (never thought that possible) and harder to start. Should just be a quick warrenty fix. One thing to watch is that on hte Octavia the flap jams and blows its fuse but it shares the circuit with the cooling fans so they go too.

yep, my '53 2.0 TDi did the same and it was 'some flap in the exhaust' that was causing it...(mine's a co car so not really bothered what it was)
I removed the 'flap' in my (3.2L) exhaust as it's only purpose is to reduce noise but as it shuts 50% of the exhaust it also reduces gas flow.......
