I'm looking to put a new set of wheels on my '98 A6 2.5 TDI due to the standard wheels being in a rather poor state and all 4 needing new tyres. I'd like to put 18's on, but having had a look and a bit of poking about, there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of room between the front suspension bush and the tyre with the current 205/55 16 on just now. I know theres loads of them about running 18's and 19's, just don't want to buy the wheels to find they don't fit or scrub all the time. From recollection the size is 215/40 18, or is there any other size that should go on?

I know the PCD is 5 x 112 and the offset is 35 to 38, just looking for a little reassurance that i won't have problems with putting bigger wheels on.

Advice and help much appreciated

I expect the size is at least 225/40 x 18.

Montys tyres in Iver know all about VAG wheel/tyre combos and usually have a selection for sale - give them a call.

I've got 225/45 x17 on my A6 and there is no clearance issue.

So if i'm going from 16 to 18, is there a specfic offset i should go for to ensure they don't catch the suspension? I've tried to do a bit of research on the internet, but i can't find anything that makes it clear. Will it matter if its just standard offset?

Cheers

I have bought these two weeks ago:

Ask Rochford Tyres -the seller- for advice by email. They seem to know their stuff very well.

I have ordered them with an ET (offset of 42mm) and fitted 235x40x18" tyres on them.
They fit perfectly my wife's A6 1.8T Quattro.

And they look absolutely fantastic!
