Can anyone put me off getting one of these?
180bhp, 33 mpg, loads of space for offspring, chippable, 4WD...
What is the catch please?

I got an A6 avant for similar reasons - I went for the 1.9tdi in the end as the 2.5 just felt too heavy and didn't seem to offer much of a real world performance advantage - esp with an auto box. Also, kids, new mortgage etc meant that I really had to watch the ol' bank balance.

Bottom line is it is good as a family wagon. Really well made, good milage (I get 600+ to a tank ), adequate mway performance, good cruiser, big, practical, reasonable servicing costs and the one I got come loaded with leather, sat nav, bose etc. A safe & sensible choice.

But I have never owned a car thats so uninspiring as a drivers car - I have never once come off the mway in order to take the twisty route home. Admittedly, its not designed as that sort of car, but seeing as I cannot afford to run a barge during the week and have a toy in the garage, I persoanlly need a car that can raise my pulse at least once in a while.

It will be gone before the end of the year me thinks...

As a final point Audi dealers have been the worst I've come across by a long way (BMW, VW, Renault, Mazda, Merc).

To sum up - good but boring. But that's only my opinion

it's a fine car - I've got one and found it to be great. Only two minor issues - 1st gear is very short, and was expecting at little more mpg but do genuinely get 32.9mpg

Thanks guys, we currently run a Subaru Forester Turbo as the family car, pricey on gas, but fun to drive. We will think a bit more.... the A6 seems very 'grown up', but I was hoping it would be reasonably fun to drive as well.

Well the 180 2.5TDI QUATTRO SPORT is certainly a lot more fun than most other Audis (excepting the RS range of course) - and is surprisingly chuckable into bends and roundabouts... A hell of a lot more fun than the A3 1.8t sport we've also got...

Never going to equal the 'weekend' Chimaera for fun but still a decent car (I do 600 miles a week in mine)

Glad to hear it - hope you like it... Just learn to ignore first gear (it makes Ronnie Corbet look tall)! Love ours...
