S3 buying advice & models?

Hi, I'm currently looking into getting an S3.
Can anyone offer any advice on what to look for when buying one.Do they have any weak points..?
I'm also struggling to find out specifics on the different models. Some ads. state 210 & others 250bhp. How do you tell the difference between the two?
Is the engine common/similar to the TT, if so why is it not in 185 & 225 bhp form?

The engine is the same as in the 225bhp TT or the 210bhp leon (and similar to all VAG 1.8T 20v cars), the differences between are small. The 250bhp - 270bhp claims are achieved by an ECU remap which seems to do little to relibility.

Common ish issues are antiroll bars corroding and creaking at the bushes, air mass meter failing causing lumpy acceleration etc,coilpacks causing strange running or missfires, knackered divertor valves causing strange running when switching between on and off boost. Think that's about it for common faults however 3 of the 4 are parts supplied by bosch etc and effect a lot of cars. I've had a lot more problems but this doesn't seem to be the norm.
Get over to AS.net and have a good look, and by on condition and how it feels to drive not on mileage etc. and make sure you drive as many as you can as there seems to be a lot of difference.
