Can someone who's owned one shed some light on this car?? Ive been looking and you get a good un for about 10-11,000 pounds and thats 02' 35,000miles. Considering they were 32K in 2002 not a bad second hand buy.

4.0 W8 engine 275BHP 155MPH Limited. Q car or what. If i buy one its going to be debaged.

Don't know too much about ownership but a debadged one will be a hoot. - Just do it!

(Or stick a tdi badge on it )

The 4 exhaust pipes hanging out of the back might just give it away though!!

Great value i'd say, no doubt they will be full of all the toys

Oh bum. It sounded the ideal new motor for my dad, he has about that to spend and is looking to move up from his Mondeo 2.5 Ghia X. The X-Type looked logical, but most of them seem to be lower spec than the Mondy for a fair bit more money. The killer is that they all seem to be automatics, any idea of they made the W8 in a manual option?

What about a VW Phaeton W12 looks like a Passatt but 444bhp.

Zad they do come in manual. I disregarded one for this very reason because i want a lazy auto (and estate)version.

Aren't they tiptronic? Best of both worlds. Our A8 4.2 was superb to drive.

Hi all, first post for me. Just bought a W8 a couple of weeks ago. With all the extras the original receipt reads just under 38k!! It's a 2002/02 auto estate in silver blue. Mint condition with the only downside being the 105k miles, but full service history. I put some new 18" RS6 alloys on and it looks the bees knees.

Price you ask? All that car for a paltry £6200. I am convinced the Kia dealer I bought it from (who had it traded in) has underpriced it.

That sounds like a fappin' bargain. I'd love to know how you get on. I am looking to swap my 02 Civic Type-R for something with more grip (moving to a house at the top of a steep slope that doesn't get gritted/salted in the winter) hence need for a 4WD as I can't really be arsed with chains or snow tyres for the sake of the last 1km to the house.

Looking at a W8 Passat, Audi RS4 and various other thinsg ATM.

Yeah, I bought it on the saturday morning after it had been on the trader webby for less than a day. They told me the phone hadn't stopped ringing with people enquiring about it. It's got everthing on it, sat nav/tv, mfsw, xenons, you name it. Even the rear seats are heated!!

you might have increased the second hand value with that post.

I had no idea there was a 4 litre passat.

I want one..... might be time to trade in the hotrod for a power cruiser.

Quick autotrader search found a fair few. What amazing value.

Thanks!

Daz VW, do you know if cruise control comes as standard or was it an optional extra? I would also be keen to hear your views on how it drives/goes and what do you think of the build quality?

I'd be interested in the economy - tank range anyway, for comparison to an S4..

the only real problem is that its neither as powerful or as fast as you would imagine.

a 530i bm is just as fast according to Autocar stats

also the w8 is a complex engine whilst a BMW straight six is proven
