Is it worth spending the extra on a K&N for my standard Audi Coupe 4 cyl 16V as opposed to just a normal new filter?

I'm not looking at anything chavvy like an induction kit as it is just my daily hack but I quite fancy a panel filter.

I have K&Ns on a couple of other cars so have the cleaner and oil already so is it worth the extra £25??

On my Golf (which I thing is the same engine - ABF 2.0lt 16v - as yours?) it made it a little more torquey - not much, but enough to make it pick up from about 500 revs earlier.

I'd get a pipercross as I've been told they are less noisy, and more free flowing...

Have to be a little careful with oiled panel filters on car with a MAF. It can coat the wire in crap and cause running problems. I have stuck with the dry paper filter in my S2 for those very reasons. Not worth the possible trouble IMO...

Cheers,

Steve

Been thinking about it...maybe fuel line has swelled! (Old fuel pipes do this) give it a good suck and make sure fuels getting through. Have spare carb fuel pump and all bits if you need them.
Good luck me old dingly dangly!

I've had a K&N Panel filter on my Golf VR6 for 3 years, with no problems whatsoever. Also is a 'bit green' as will never need replacing!

Think youll find that the wire in the MAF will glow red hot for a few seconds to burn off any deposits, its designed to do this by the ecu, as such i dont see any problems arising as a result of using an oiled filter, as long as its not soaked of course!
