warning lights on A6 2.8

Hello there,
I wonder if you guys have any idea about the warning lights on my A6(1999 model). It was a intermitten problem, but when it happened,there was a beeping sound and the ABS warning light (orange colour)came on followed by the hand brake light kept on flashing (red colour)The Audi dealer said I need a new CPU control unit before they can proceed diagnostic further. Thanks for the help and advices.
