A6 door mirror glass

The passenger door mirror glass on my A6 has stopped defrosted/demisting. I need to check if the wire has fallen off the back of the glass, but don't know how to get the glass off. Can I just pull it off?A nyone know the technique? I don't want to break it. I'm assuming this mirror is the same as for many other Audis ...

I've only just seen this. Normally there's a little hole on the underside of the mirror housing. Put a long thin screw driver up here and engage the plastic locking disc on the back of the mirror - push it round, about 20 degrees movement. IIRC the mirror then pops out. The wire doesn't usually fall off, but can/ does corrode to the extent that continuity is lost
