Even though I am happy with my current car, somehow I am always on the look out for my next car/toy.
I write down the features of what I am looking for & keep coming to an RS4.
I like the practicality,the 4wd,the bhp,the exclusivIty,huge Q car factor... have even seen a good one for £35k.

Has anyone driven one?...I have a few road tests from late 2000 & they seem to criticise usual Audi steering feel, but also that they are a bit inert & even though very fast ,they drive you rather than you drive them.

Do they feel like you are driving a very heavy car?

Any comments would be helpful,,,it adds up on paper, but I think I may get bored with it quickly in reality.I could just go & test drive one,but don't like wasting sellers time unless I am ready to buy.

From what I can remember as it was some time ago:

Hugely fast, really super quick.
Stable, you feel glued to the road.
Quiet
Great interior
It felt heavier than the Chim I have to say, but not inordinately heavy.

Matt.

have driven a few and they are great cars - obviously v different from your porker but a great car if you want space with pace - and they are damn quick

chip it and get 450bhp+ and 0-60 in about 4 secs (with a wardrobe in the back)

good Q car and the looks haven't aged imho - bendy wheels issue now sorted - free replacements for life or swap for free harder compound alternative, check this when buying second hand

I currently drive a 99 A4 Quattro, and i like the way it drives overall. Could use a little more bhp but that is always the case is it not? I have driven it at a few Porsche driver's ed events and I can't keep up with the vipers,C5's, and the 996/911's but they
all would be passed in the twisties if not for "no-passing" zones. Passing is only allowed on the long straights, so instead, I fill their mirrors all I can. Also I am able to drive a much more direct line on the course and brake way later than anyone else on the track. My instructor was able to do things with my car that I hope to be able to emmulate, provided I can get to more events. Best car I have ever owned, the best mix of sports car and luxury sedan in my mind. I have thought of TT trades, more test drives required to really change my mind. Estates originality is one quality that is hard to ignore. When I first got the A4 I was one of a few, and now, well they are everywhere. Granted I have enough mods to make me feel unique, so I should be happy for now.
