I guy local to me is selling......these are the bad points:

Serious rust on o/s front wing (needs replacing)
Some bubbling on n/s rear wheel arch
Some rust in spare wheel well
Some rust at base of n/s A-pillar
and then the biggie.....it's been fitted with a 'Open' style sun-roof, rather like the Polo Open Air from 10 years ago, basically a huge hole in the roof with runners on which a piece of canvas can be folded back. It's all been gaffer-taped up to stop leaks.

Good points:
Runs and drives really well
Non-Rusty paintwork is pretty good

Do I go for it? How easy will that roof be to fix (ie weld a new roof section in)?

I should be able to buy for £250.

Blimey!! - didn't know that there were any of these left.

Sunroof easy - but quite expensive - to fix.

Is it MOT'd?

If the rust is just superficial, wings for instance can be easily replaced, then yes go for it. Unfortunately as it is a Mk1 this is unlikely to be the case, you need to check the sills very carefully, especially where the rear suspension attaches to the chassis just behind the doors. If this has gone then the car is scrap, I found this out the hard way and am now on my second mk1....

There are no new panels available, even pattern parts are very hard to come by and cost the earth, and look out for the wings, there are two different designs depending on the age and which front indicators it has.

Depends upon what you want it for.

A Mk1 Sciroc in that condition is never going to be worth anything much as a classic, even if you spend a mint on it.

As a run-around, it is over-priced (massively.)

If you are looking at it 'cos you just love Mk1 Scirocs (which I happen to) then beware of the possible wallet damage that a wilful heart can cause.

If you don't buy it, what will happen to it? Big motorway in the sky, I'd imagine. In which case, you need to offer about £5 more than the scrappers, which is a lot less than £250.

I think I'll look out for one that doesn't require major surgery instead. That roof needs serious urgent attention and I don't do DIY!

I love MK1s, but not as much as this girl
