mixing new Michelin pilot sports with old is it OK?
Discussion
Hi Leon,
When I purchased the R32 it had Michelin Pilot Sports all round - looked in reasonable condition. On picking up the car I noticed the garage had 'kindly' swapped the front two tyres (citing they were less than 4mm tread depth) and replaced with a pair of Hankook Ventus Sports
I got them to swap for a pair of brand new Michelin Pilot Sports and paid them the difference (about £120 - which seemed like a reasonable compromise).
So now all four corners are MPS - however, the rear offside looks to be the last generation tyre as the tread pattern is quite different. No problems encountered to date... all tyres are healthy on tread and correct pressure... can't say I've noticed any issues with mixing new and old.
Hope this helps - happy motoring!
