Hello

Thought I'd ask for some advice if that's ok !

I have decided to buy a Touareg, I think the 3.0 TDI SE, with metallic and parking sensors. Good choice, or I am as well going for the 2.5, same spec ? And with an eye on residuals, have I missed any spec the car really should have ?

My other question is of where to source. I have a quote from Broadspeed, for the 3.0 with the spec listed, at £31677, which sounds like a good deal. I have purchased a car from a broker in the past ( Golf tdi 130 ), but nothing of this value or speciality. ~They say the vehicle is a UK car, sourced from a VW main agent. Any thoughts / previous dealings ?

Thanks

I'd go for the 3.0 TDI out of the two, the main agent in Leeds told me they are best compromise between performance and economy when I spoke to them.

Regards price, there seems to be some disparity between the various dealers on the VW website, not sure if some are errors? Have done a quick cut and paste of the used (and nearly new) ones knocking around up here to give an indication of price, they all seem to be the Sport version for some reason. The starred numbers are the mileages BTW.

Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2005 13,000* Black J.C.T. 600 Wakefield £39,995
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2005 6,500* Grey Gilder Volkswagen (Hillsborough) £37,985
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2005 4,000* Grey Gilder Volkswagen (Sheffield) £31,985
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2005 19,000* Green Smith Knight Fay (Stockport) £32,499
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2006 4,300* Grey Smith Knight Fay (Stockport) £35,999
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2006 12* Green Gilbert Lawton Manchester £29,999
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2005 16,128* Grey Gilbert Lawton Manchester £36,999
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2006 10* Blue Smith Knight Fay (Bolton) £32,979
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2006 10* Grey Smith Knight Fay (Bolton) £32,999
Touareg 3.0 TDI V6 Sport 5-Dr 2006 2,500* Grey Smith Knight Fay (Bolton) £34,999

One thing to think about is what sort of mileage you do; I saved myself a good few quid by buying a used V10 with only 16k miles on. I do that in 6 months, so did not see the point in buying new, plus suffering the heavy early depreciation.

Thanks Martyn, I'm driving the V6 next week, however the thought of a used V10 is very apealing.......

Do try a V10. The power and torque is unreal.

The mpg is not so bad; 21-22 average, and 24-25 on long runs (cruise set at 80mph)

Hi there

I've tried everything in the Touareg range - If you can stretch then V10, but V6 3.0 Tdi is also an excellent car.

I wouldn't bother with the 2.5 as underpowered - not too sure if they still do this model new anyway.

Recent realignment of range seems to be quite good with a few add on extras as standard now.

great 2nd hand buy. Spotted a 3.0 SE with Abt kit for sale earlier this week down south at VW dealer. will be on the thier web used car search somewhere.

ps Also used Broadspeed in the past - no complaints and came up with a good deal.

Im looking for a 4x4 at the moment and on saturday I drove a few cars back to back, X5, Touareg and Rangie, I must say I was really impressed with the Touareg, drove much more like a car than I thought and interior quality was the best of the three which really surprised me! So am now looking for a used Touareg myself for sure excellent 4x4 will definitely try the V10 if I can find one under £30k??

IMHO
