polo front door locks help needed.....

I have disassembled the front door locks (components surrounding the barrel) on my wife's polo as they were both broken. I am getting new components tomorrow, but think there may be a problem reassembling due to the strong spring. Does anyone have any recommendations here please? The Haynes manual recommends that it is a job for the VW dealership....
