I've just found this forum - I was trying to sell mine at the around the time the threads on Mk2's were busy. Bah.

Still, no great loss - as I couldn't engender interest, I've decided to keep it and embark on an upgrade campaign :P

It's now at Stealth getting a gearbox rebuild, with VR 1st 'n' 2nd and a VR clutch. The G is coming off to go to G-werks for a rebuild to stage 4; Once this is run it it will go back to stealth for the fitting of a toothed belt, 68mm pulley and a remap. Can't wait.

Do you genuinely rate it over a Mk2 16v?

I used to have a J-reg valver and always fancied getting a G60 but never got around to it. Does the G60 feel very different? Much quicker?

G60 does feel vastly different.

I is hard to explain and put into words but there seems to be a real shove at all times, as opposed to when you realy start climbing the rev range in the valver.

G60....a special car !

Factory figures for a Golf G60 is 160 BHP and 166lb/ft - think the 1.8 16v comes in at 143 bhp and the torque is not close.

That and the boom the 'charger makes! Not as nice as the VR6 howl at full chat, but it's nearly there!

The mods above tho' should take it to around 190 at the flywheel with similar torque figures.
Hopefully. We'll see what the Rolling road says eh? :P
