New RS4 v CaymanS
Discussion
I just drove an RS4 at my local dealers. Loved its raw power, its engine noise, grip, practicality etc.
Was disappointed by a couple of things though. No feel in either the steering or the brake pedal. Considering this has was always a criticism of the fast audi's before I was surprised that it hadn't come up again in recent reviews.
So its left me a dilemma. Ignore my wife (the Audi's her first choice) and get a Cayman or accept the slightly numb steering and go for the otherwise phenomenal Audi.
Has anyone driven the Porsche CaymanS (my other choice)in relation to the new RS4 and gone for the Audi and if so why?

RS4 will depreciate by a minimum of 10-14k in the first year, the cayman will loose half this...
to spec the Cayman to the same level as the audi is in actual fact 1k over the audis cost. depreciation figures for Porsches I've noticed seem to talk about holding 55-60% of their original value of 43k after 3 years which in fact is more like 45-50% when you consider that you actually can pay 52K for one. so about the same in fact.
Price for the Cayman is whats putting me off, plus the fact that no-one buying them. exclusiveties alright but if they drop the price to shift them I'll feel done!

Cayman has decent 18" wheels, leather and air con as standard spec.
The buyer from one of the main porsche centres gave me the a couple of years ago that the most sensible purchase in the entire range was a Boxster S plus metallic paint.
I think this applies to the Cayman also. Perhaps a set of the upgraded wheels and other than that bog standard.

I thought all the RS4 Saloons were sold?
Given the choice of a RS4 or Caymen S, I go for a Boxster S and enjoy the sun
I personally think the RS4 will have better residuals than the Caymen, supply and demand favours the RS4.
No not all sold. I could get one for October if my bank balance allowed so have ordered for Feb next year.
I agree with the residuals aspect of the RS4 and so importantly do the audi finance people. rarer car for the right reasons.
Boxster S round my way screams the same thing as an M3 of any type. drug dealer. Oh and what SUN!
