Hello all im just looking for some advice.

I recently took the passenger seat out of a cabrio to suck up some water after a leak. The problem i now have after refitting everything is that the airbag light is pemenantly on.

I have checked all the contacts at the base of the seat and all is fine. is there something else to reset the warning light or is a trip to the dealer inevitable.

Thanks

I've had that on my Mk5 Golf. I was a bit angry one day and pushed the drivers seat back into place a bit too hard. Dealer said that a shock like that can trip them into an error. You might have given it a knock when moving the seat, there's one in both seats. Dealer visit I'm afraid. If it's warrenty, have them replace the sensor straight away. Mine was re-set twice then replaced.

My A3 did this after the seat was moved, apparently the leads are a bit short and the plugs come loose easily, even if it's OK (which it probably is) you need to reset the light and unless you've got the kit then it's a dealer job, if it's under warranty they should do it FOC (especially if you don't tell them you took the seat out ) but I would imagine that it probably would still work if it's plugged in OK.
