VW Bora 2.0SE, temp gauge goes to maximum and a warning comes up on display...'Check Coolant'. Also, heater doesn't blow warm, only cold air.

Had a look under bonnet and can hear a bubbling/boiling sort of noise. Coolant bottle is at the correct level.

Any ideas? I'm supposed to be travelling up to Cumbria tomorrow (200 miles).

Andy T, did you get any joy in resolving your issue, as I have exactly the same symptoms on my Bora 2.0 (V plate yr 2000), i.e. temperature high message, blows cold air not hot and collant level is fine. Any help would be appreciated. Also, where is the thermostat located ? Wanted to give it a 'little' tap.

Could be a faulty Temp Sensor.

Another of those VAG common faults.

Hi, forgot i laid this thread! It turned out to be the water pump.

I've heard that they should be changed with the cambelt, which i had done about 4 months ago at a back street garage, alas no water pump change.

You live and learn.

One more thing regarding water pumps & cambelts.
The engine mount 'stretch' bolts are NOT reusable and should be replaced.
Make sure whoever replaced your waterpump did this.
