Tiptronic Transporters

Anyone driven/live with one? I'm looking to get one soon and wondered if they are any good. I spend most of my time in bloody vans so thought i'd make my life a bit easier with a 130 auto.

I suppose fuel consumption goes through the roof as well!

I spend nearly all my time in a van too, still wouldnt want an auto- autos are the work of Satan himself, best avoided unless you are missing a leg & an arm & even then there are im sure better solutions!

if the transporter gives similar economy to our new sharan (TDI-140) then we get 45mpg on a run, 38 around town.

We have the sharan sport (6speed manual)

New DSG Diesels are awsome.. put the DSG autobox in sports and they love the torque of the Diesel.

Nope. Love 'em mate. I always used to think of autos as being sh1t too, probably the 850 auto mini I had, but the new generation are cracking. I have a 330d sport auto which I have to say is bloody fantastic and would IMHO be much worse with a manual. I'm not in anyway shape or form saying that the T5 will be the same but for driving everyday I have high hopes. All I need to do is get the Tuscan converted then.

Thanks for the mpg figures, they seem quite good but the van will be loaded most of the time so I guess i'll get less.

Anyone know where I can drive one?

Well just in case anyone is interested, i've now got it and the thing is awesome!!!! The DSG box is just right.

I wouldn't bother with a manual daily now.

I think as the technology improves more and more people are being converted.

Both our cars are now semi-auto.
