On Sunday, near Ringwood, Dorset. The dual carriageway between Bournemouth and the M27, I forget what the number is. The driver grinned as I slowed down to take a look while overtaking it!

First one I've seen on the road (I think - they don't stand out, which I guess is the point). Are they really that rare?

IMHO not that rare, suppose it depends on location.. plenty of them round here, local VW dealer seems to have most of the countries supply on his forecourt.. they will be one hell of a bargain exec car in a couple of years..

I live in Ringwood and there's a black one that parks at my gym - have to say it's nice but too understated IMO

I think that the guy either works for VW or is a depreciation addict - he's had 2 Phaetons and a Toureg in the last couple of years.

My dads just bought a 5 litre V10 diesel one, 25k off list and only 5000 miles. Not a bad deal at all. Very nice car too, if you appreciate the whole understated thing.

Sounds like a future A8 customer to me!

I was traveling along the M4 towards Wales a few w/es ago and was over taken by a silver one. Then about twenty minutes later a W8 Passat went past me. Now they are rare!
