Hi all, new to the veedub forum but always been a big fan, used to have a MK1 golf and a beetle. GUTTED I missed out on the MK1 GTi freebie!

Just got a Bora PD150 sport as a company car. But bland too look at after my Alfa 156, but a truly brilliant mile-muncher with ALL the toys on board. Engine is fantastic, sooooo much torque for overtaking. Not as pretty as my Alfa, have to turn the wheel too much for my liking (gave it the same amount of wheel twiddling as I normally do to get out the work carpark after picking it up and nearly ended up in the flower bed!), but major gripe is...

DIPPED BEAM IS C-RAP!!!!!!!!

Anyone else noticed this? The electric adjusters are set to max range, the lenses are clean and the bulbs are fine, but compared to the 156 the lights are SERIOUSLY affecting my ability to "make progress" at night.

Before I go t VW to get them checked I thought I'd just ask your opinions...

Cheers

VW headlights have always been poop; I run a considerably uprated loom on my MK2 and they're pretty good now.

Get your multimeter onto the headlamp connectors. Anything less than 12v and you've found the problem.

I used to have exactly the same problem.

Have a trip over to powerbulbs.com and order a decent set of bulbs - the difference was amazing.

Thanks guys. No doubt there will be some clause in my company car contract prohibiting the use of such things but I'll give it a go!!!!

The uprated bulbs will give you a minor improvement and are unlikely to be an issue with your employer or lease Company. However, if you want to dramatically improve the headlight performance then think about a HID Xenon upgrade kit. This would be easy to detect so may be frowned upon but depending on your bulb fitment you could have a plug and play kit that could be removed when you give the car back.

Probably around £250 all in.
