Hi All,
Its coming up to 2 years since I brought my 94 Golf but I haven't flushed out the coolant system since I brought it.
Is it worth doing?
Now the slight problem, it looks like there may be a slight leak from both bottom corners of the radiator. Not a major one though. If I flush the coolant system out i'm guessing I run the risk of flushing out any blockages and that will mean a new rad will be required.
Also is it worth replacing the header tank and any pipe work while i'm at it?
Phill.
PS. The car runs great by the way but I just like to stay ahead of any problems!

As soon as the rad shows any signs of leaking, you should replace it. If not, you run the risk of the car overheating, blowing the cylinder head gasket or something even nastier. You can pick up a recon rad for around £50 + VAT.
It's not worth replacing the header tank unless it has seriously perished, but it is worth replacing the pipes if the car has done a lot of miles - not much money for peace of mind.
