I'm thinking of aquiring a Mk1 Golf GTi, preferably a campaign, but wheres the best place to find them advertised?

I know of www.wagenwheels.co.uk & www.volksdragon.co.uk but wheres best for private sales?

My wish list is...

Mars Red or Black (maybe White or Helios)
Good history and provenace
sensible mileage <130k
Unmodified (minor mods accepted)
A1 Condition cosmetically and mechanically (but not expecting concours) HPI Clear

I'm thinking along the lines of £3k, maybe a smidgen more for the right car.

Is the above realistic?

Yes, they are out there and they do crop up. Keep checking cgti, e38, no-rice...

You should definitely try www.ebay.co.uk - a lot of people are sceptical about buying cars from eBay, but if you get the contact details from the seller and talk to them about it and view the car before you bid, then it's no different to buying any other way.

You might also want to try www.autotrader.co.uk
