I'm itching to get a deposit down on the New Leon Cupra when its launched. 240Bhp+!!! it's going to be a cracker and a Gti destroyer.

However, I don't want to whack a deposit down only to find that a short time later there is a special edition Cupra - A R32 equivalent or such. I expect that the range may follow the current format with a Cupra and then a Cupra R, but will it go beyond that offering something extremely special?

Has anyone heard any mutterings of specical edition Leon Cupra's and therefore shed light on what we can expect to see?

What i'd really like to see is 4WD making a debut.

Apparently 4WD Leon Cupras have been available on the continent for some years now.

Hi I work SEAT on the weekends as i am currently studying at university. Is a good little job to bring in some beer money and i have a laugh aswell.

From what I have heard at work there is no talk of a limited edition Leon Cupra or even a four wheel drive one, yet i know the previous leon was available in four wheel drive abroad and i think even a three door. We have had bulletins at work to say that the Leon Cupra will be availiable in January 07 and will be a 240ps 2.0 TFSI (knowing SEAT it may well be before then). The Leon FR will be launched officially on the weekend of the 15th and 16th of July although they will be in the showrooms a week or two prior to that. You may see one floating around now though as the training has started on them.

Hope this is of some help

Cheers James

It used to be that the Cupra R was the top model with the Cupra being less extreme however SEAT has changed that to the Cupra being the extreme top model and the FR being the less extreme. Therefore the new Leon Cupra 240bhp (2wd) will be the top Leon model. SEAT has never released special edition sport versions like VW did with the anniversary golf.

I reckon that a 240ps Leon Cupra will be a good buy, if SEAT price it right. I was surprised to see that the petrol Leon FR with the 200ps engine is only £16,995 - a good 4k cheaper than a 5-door Golf and even undercutting the Skoda Octavia vRS, I believe.

£18k-ish and it'll be the hot hatch bargain of the decade!
