I've noticed that the old S4 2.7 V6 twin turbo is becoming a pretty reasonably priced car for the spec, and could join the list of my 'potentials' for this year.

Any horror stories/warnings/advice/good news?

lots of info on www.rs246.com

no horror stories really - had one for a 'practical' 3rd car for 12K miles now

£8-9K will see you into a good one

common faults - MAF sensor, Diverter valves....£150 for new uns and youre sorted, big service is 80K miles of for belts etc (£1K) other than that then £250 every 10K miles and £500 every 40K miles + consumables.

They are pretty solid and a great practical, discreet, quick car that hold their value and wear their miles well.

Im putting my 98 S4 up for sale next month (the usual - need to move house and one of the cars has to go) - drop me a PM for full details..will be around £8-8.5K depending on mileage by then, whether I have it for another service before sale etc...
