I was trying to work out this weekend what I didn't like about my golf so I could rectify it rather than simply selling it come summer because I just don't like driving it. I'm pretty sure that it's the steering. It's a 91 16v gti with PAS and you have to turn the wheel miles to get the bugger to go around corners. There's no play in the steering. Is there a quick rack available for these cars and if so has anyone fitted one?

Thanks,

Mark

Supprised you think that?

Anyway not heard of one & no point in going manual- as pas has quicker rack (by half a turn i think) than on non pas.

There are a few bods getting quick racks made for Mk1, but thats manual & I think wont fit Mk2 (or perhaps it might with a lot of work)

I suspect it's because I normally drive the bike day to day and then for fun drive the westy so it's bound to feel that way. The mondeo is the same but the steering is so light you can spin it with one finger

Just on the off-chance there was a quick solution though.
