Anyone run one of these?

Considering a family runaround and have a shortlist of X5 4.8, Cayenne turbo and Touareg v10.

Looking at 03/53 reg. Erring towards the Touareg as a friend runs a V6 and loves it. The Cayenne looks a superb drive, but not a fan of the styling and running costs look heavy. X5 currently least favourite due to imminent arrival of new model.

I've seen a couple advertsied between £33k-36k with between 10k and 20k miles.

My only real concern would be the running costs and reliability.

This is a useful site and gives an idea on reliability, running costs etc.

I've got the 2.5 Tdi and drove a V10 on a test day at Oulton Park and later off road.

Very impressed but depreciate very badly.

Unless you really want sports performace, the 3 litre diesl is a better compromise though.

Had an X5 4.4i Sport, which had better road handling but the Touareg is a better on/off road vehicle and looks much better both inside and out.

If you buy a Touareg, make sure you get one with the air suspension, if not standard. Also look for Sat Nav fitted.
