Hi there, new member alert.

I've had my 1999 S4 Avant for 3 years now - was going to go up a size for the A6 avant, 2.5tdi quattro sport. WRONG!!

Plan B - modify it !!!!

I've read through some threads, and there seems to be a general view to 310-315bhp hip, miltek exhaust & short shift conv.

Is this the correct summary ?
Where to get it done ? I'm in Nottingham
I've found some adjustable programming done with an added cruise control stalk (or box of tricks), is this beneficial ?
What happens to the mpg (i know i know) with the 310bhp conversion?

I look forward to any advice.

I'd be more inclined to go to AMD with a B5 S4. MRC is well proven with the C4 but i've not seen anything he's done with the later cars. Haven't heard any horror stories though and my MRC01 chip was excellent until i let Dialynx loose on it. AMD are a Milltek reseller too.

As above, I would recommend AmD - they have done all the mods on my cars for the past 6 years. The B5 S4 page is at www.amdtechnik.com/products.variant.cfm?variantid=28

You can go for anthing from a straight remap (Stage 1 +40 bhp - £881) to a remap plus Milltek exhaust and sports cats (Stage 3 +75 bhp - £3300) to a complete set of RS4 turbos and intercoolers etc to add 165+ bhp (if you've got the best part of £8,000 to spend).

Have fun, whatever you decide to do.

Those of you recommending AmD, how many of the staff that were there when they worked on your car are still there?

I've used AmD a lot in the past, but had MRC remap my B5 RS4 a couple of weeks back.... I know where I'm going back to :-)

Plenty of modifications available for the S4.

1. The suspension, H+R rollbars followed by H+R coilovers.
2. Brake upgrade the original pads overheat easily, so replacement EBC or Mintex is a easiy mod.
3. I would recommend MRC for the remap as well, custom maps if required.
4. Nice light 18" wheels say OZ or BBS, some are half the weight over stock. You will notice the difference!
5. Exhaust the Sebrings are top quality often overlooked. Cheaper than the current top sellers. iro £400 for a cat back system.

I don't think it's a case of one over the other - it's great that MRC have done such a great job for you.

The fact that there are a few top end Audi and VW tuners in the UK makes it better for all of us lot spending hard earned cash with them

AmD have gone through a number of changes in the past 6-9 months, including investment from Milltek and Scott (one of the owners) has left to go to Aus. Pete (ex VW Racing snr engineer) has invested in the company and is running it day to day with Adam.

Mook, it was really the exodus of "doers" (including Scott of course, and Nat) that concerns me most...

I agree that over the past 12 months or so, the quality and attention to detail and customer service went a long way south, but they've really sorted themselves out now. Pete (new part owner) spent a long time focusing on getting it back to where it was five or so years ago and I am now back to rating them highly.
