try www.clubgti.co.uk

A few mk2 Golfs crop up on www.the-corrado.net too, or try PH classified.

Good luck

Still looking myself, the number around seems to have dropped over the last week or two, both AutoTradet and eBay only have a few, I'm looking for a 16V, so even more scarce.

Some people have very inflated ideas of what their cars are worth after adding their own personal touch to them thats for sure One site has a Mk2 for £7.5k

Thanks for the helpful replies. He's wavering between a mk3, which he thinks is better, and a mk2, which i am desperate for him to get. Impossible finding a clean one!

It's very tempting to look at the Mk3 given the prices for some are dropping below those of the Mk2s, but that car did mark the downturn in the Golf, so I' sticking to my guns on the Mk2 personally, hopefully your mate will see sense and listen to you too.

I've got an 'F' reg 8 valver which is mechanically sound and has got 12 months MOT and EVERYTHING on it works (yes, even the fan switch, rear wash wipe, computer and all the other bits that go wrong). It's dark grey, could do with a new metal trim on the grill and might need a wing replaced but otherwise is in pretty good nick.

I'm looking to shift it on to someone who can enjoy it as much as I have and want the sort of money that will get me a decent push bike and other gear - £500 or so.

Anyone interested?

Don't knock em until you try em, as my 16v constantly surprises me with its speed and cornering - yet is so much more refined, and more importantly has a better heater

To give you an idea, went against a 530d last night and he said he struggled to get past until 130 leptons to which he then pissed off. Additonally 125 lepton conrnering was achievd, and was certainly starting to near the limit.

So in short, just as capable, as long as you are lucky like me and find a clean, unmolested, original, and reliable one.

Try looking beyond the end of your nose, there are loads of places;

partsgateway.co.uk, volkswizard, volksapart etc etc

If you looked about a bit and found the forums Edition38, clubgti etc you would know this.

Best bet is to go on the various forums and gauge peoples responses.

Batty,

Not sure why you got such a frosty response there.

Good places for Mk2 parts are Euro Car Parts and German, Swedish and French. Often known as "ECP" and "GSF". Both have websites, and branches around the country.

ECP are usually a whisker cheaper, GSF sell better quality stuff and are friendlier IME. (For my money I would choose GSF, but actually use a ECP as it is much closer to me.)

Either will see you with service parts for your Mk2 at very cheap prices, as well as useful things like cheap panels, oil, new lights etc. (And a rather sad array of chav-extras, as well as an even sadder array of chavs who buy them.)

Alternatively, try your local motor factors, and ask nicely. Avoid main dealers - also known as main stealers for a reason ....
