Temp Sender MK4 Golf

Hi the temp gauge in the car isnt working but sometimes goes up and then off if you go over a bump i was thinking it could be that the wire was pulled off during recnet service. Has anyone got a pic of the temp sender in the engine bay please as I dont know where to look.

What engine do you have in your MK4?. On the 1.8T the temp sender for the gauge is combined with the ECU temp sender. Its located on the top rad hose on the right of the block and is held in with a plastic clip. It has a "D" shaped plug on the top of it.
